We’ve all seen termites on TV and hear about how damaging they can be – but that could never happen to you, right? Unfortunately, termites can be very invasive, and you may not even be aware that you have a problem until something unexpected happens. So, how do you know there are signs of termites at your property? Here are three good indicators:
1. Swarming – If you notice a large swarm of winged bugs or simply find the leftover wings in your basement during certain times of year, this is a good indicator you may have termites.
2. Evidence of Activity – From a building inspection to a remodeling project, when you begin to get to the bones of your property and notice signs of termites, it could be hollow wood, termite tunnels, and other damage to the structure of your property.
3. Mud Tunnels – Termites travel from their nest to their food source in protected tunnels. If you notice these on the interior or exterior of your property, you should call a professional right away.
